Whale watching away from the crowds

Humpback whales Migrate to Mexico every winter, traveling 1000s of kilometers down the North American coast. These whales are members of the north eastern pacific population of humpback whales, estimated to be above 18,000, and numbers are still growing.

Cabo San Lucas, situated at the tip of the peninsula provides unique opportunities for whale Watching. It acts as the entry way for all of the whales that visit Mexico during the winter. Many of these whales stay in the area for the whole season, while others venture up into the sea of Cortez or south along the pacific coast.

Humpback whales spend the summer in their feeding grounds in the north pacific. They spend all day feeding on fish and krill, building up enough blubber to sustain them for the migration and through the winter.

In Mexico the whales spend their days socializing, Mating and calving. We are lucky to witness some incredible behavior from the whales.

Humpback whales are the species most commonly found in Cabo, there are a variety of whale and dolphins species that travel through the area during the whale season. Some of the cetaceans we may encounter include, Grey whales, Blue Whales, Orcas and even Sperm whales.

What’s the day like

This whale watching safari is a 4 hour trip. We will go far beyond the crowds to give you the best and most authentic whale experience. Whales are very sensitive animals and we want to find individuals that are calm and happy, not surrounded by boats.

All the captains we work with are very knowledgeable about both the area and the whales and are sure to do a great job in spotting whales. They are in communication with other trusted captains and always searching for the best spots, and anticipating the next move.

On board, our guide will provide you with lots of educational information, stories, and interesting facts about these whales. A marine Hydrophone is always on board  for you to listen to the whales singing.  The crew will do their best to find different types of whale behavior for you to observe. .
